One reason Staph and MRSA can be so challenging to treat is because of "biofilms". Biofilms are like an armored plating that bacteria make to protect themselves inside your body or on surfaces in the environment. This protective "skin" helps shield colonies of bacteria from antibiotics and other treatments, giving them a place to hide, breed and grow.
Biofilms are so common that you probably see them every day and don't even realize it. The slimy layer inside your pet’s water dish that's so hard to clean is a biofilm. The hard dental plaque on your teeth is another type of biofilm. Just like a fortified castle, biofilms are a defensive hiding place that help bacteria survive and shield themselves from antibiotic attack.
Biofilms also serve as a staging ground for bacteria in your body. Staph and MRSA can hide out inside biofilms long after an infection has ended, waiting for ideal conditions to cause another infection. Biofilms are common inside chronic wounds and abscesses, some infected surgical sites, and are commonly part of infections from catheters, surgical implants and other medical devices.
The main problem with biofilms is that antibiotics and many other treatments have a hard time penetrating the biofilm and killing the bacteria inside. This can make treatment very difficult and greatly increase the risk of recurring infections. And, the National Institute for Health (NIH) stated that biofilms are involved in up to 80% of all chronic, recurring infections1.
If you have a history of recurring Staph or MRSA, or if you have an infected surgical implant or medical device, chances are you have a biofilm infection.
Antibiotics have difficulty reaching biofilm bacteria. In fact, studies have shown that up to 1000 times more antibiotic is needed to kill bacteria inside a biofilm compared to free-floating bacteria. Taking this much of an antibiotic would be downright dangerous to your health. While some natural products have shown effectiveness against biofilms, adding a biofilm support product can be a powerful addition.
Biofilms are still a new area of scientific research. Almost all the historical research done with bacteria, antibiotics or natural remedies is done using "free floating" bacteria, not biofilms. And, it's also more difficult and uncommon to test a person for biofilms. However, some natural remedies have shown activity against biofilms. And, there are also new enzyme products being developed that specifically target and break down biofilms.
Combining the anti-bacterial properties of more than one medicinal herb provides a broad spectrum of activity against infections. Adding a product that specifically targets biofilms can be a powerful addition to your infection fighting measures.
Breaking down the biofilm exposes the bacteria inside, making them more vulnerable to the treatments you use. This kind of "one-two punch" can provide excellent support against recurring infections by killing bacteria and destroying their biofilm hiding places at the same time.
Bio-Botanical Research, Inc, a leader in the field of medicinal grade, broad spectrum antibacterial herbal formulations since 1987, has created a unique and superior herbal protocol for advanced biofilm support.
The SI Herbal LSF Protocol provides excellent support for stubborn, recurring infections involving biofilms. This broad spectrum protocol also helps support the immune system and address active infection symptoms. The protocol uses the following two products, both available in a convenient kit:
Biocidin LSF and Olivirex are part of the SI Herbal LSF Kit. Ordering details here.
Chronic recurring infections, especially those involving biofilms, take time to develop and thus they will take time to resolve. Several months or more may be required. Start slowly with Biocidin LSF and Olivirex as directed in the protocol referenced above (or by your physician), to avoid any large bacterial or fungal die-offs in your body, which can be uncomfortable.
For chronic MRSA infections, use at the moderate or maximum dosage shown in the protocol above, then re-evaluate your condition (of course, always have a physician oversee your progress no matter what treatment methods you choose).
Evaluate your condition and continue at the same amount, or decrease to lowest maintenance dose per your specific needs. If your symptoms are better but still present, consider continuing with the protocol for another month or two. If symptoms have minimally improved, higher amounts of these products may be needed.
